Here is a less common jumbo-size Constellation under reference 14777, the pre-successor of the more commonly seen reference 168.001. These jumbo-size Constellation watches were mainly sold in the Japanese market. Due to the more humid climate of Japan, many of these Constellation do not survive to this day or are heavily aged. It is truly fortuitous to come across an example in such excellent condition. Reference 14777 was introduced in 1961 and lasted until 1962. The case measures 37 millimetres across, excluding the crown, by 45.5 millimetres from lug to lug. Because of its large size, the lug width measures 19 millimetres. The automatic movement with a calendar feature is an Omega calibre 561 with 24 jewels. The wrist size in the photo is 6 inches. The bezel and case medallion are solid gold, and the lugs are gold capped over steel.
